The Division of State Architect Update

The DSA announced that they will not be taking further action on this proposal 11-09-09

The Access Committee of the Advisory Board has voted to recommend that the Division of the State Architect develop guidelines and specifications to affect the playgrounds on California Schools.  there were two code amendments proposed.

    1.   Restrict or eliminate the use of Engineered Wood Fiber and other  loose fill fall surfacing materials in School playgrounds

    2.  Require playgrounds with 11 or more play components to provide access by ramp rather than by transfer system.

Watch this Web page for updates or visit the DSA Web Page and look for Access Committee under upcoming meetings at www.dsa.dgs.ca.gov/default.htm

ASTM F 1487-07ae1 - Now available at www.astm.org

CPSC Handbook #325 - A final draft was published on April 21, 2008 and is now available at www.cpsc.gov   There is a disclaimer notice on the cover of the document that states that this is a draft version.  That is a formality because CPSC does not have a quorum to adopt the draft as final.  This version should be considered as the final - no other version is available from CPSC at this time.  This version includes recommendations for Children 6 Months through 36 Months.

NPSI - The curriculum for the CPSI Class has been updated to reflect changes to ASTM and CPSC.
