David Spease, Landscape Architect -- The Revised Playground Safety Legislation (AB 1144 Harman) became effective on January 1, 2008. The legislation does not affect existing play areas that were certified in compliance with the current requirements. It applies to new play equipment and or modifications to existing facilities. In some cases, play areas that were not compliant with the current requirements may comply with the revisions. A full copy of the legislation is available under Playground Safety and a summary of the changes is available under NEWS.
